OnePlus Claims Its New Screens Can Work Even in a Downpour

In a world where almost everything we do is powered by technology, it’s important to make sure our devices are protected against the elements. This is especially true for smartphone users, who rely on their devices for everything from communication to entertainment. For this reason, smartphone manufacturers are always striving to develop screens that can withstand all kinds of weather. This goal has recently been achieved by Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus, who have announced that their new screens can work even in a downpour.

OnePlus has revealed that the new display technology uses a process called ‘hydrophobic nanocoating’. This coat is applied to the entire screen assembly, including the LCD panel, capacitive touch panel, and digitizer. It acts as a waterproof barrier that prevents water from seeping into the device and disrupting the electrical systems.

The nanocoating also extends the smartphone’s durability by protecting against dust, dirt, and other contaminants that could eventually cause problems. To further increase the robustness of the device, OnePlus has also implemented a couple of other components in the assembly. First, there’s a rigid polyurethane layer between the LCD and the backlight that makes it difficult for moisture to pass through the device. Second, there’s a special nano-silicone membrane that covers the entire assembly and can help prevent corrosion caused by humidity.

Aside from its waterproofing capabilities, the new screen technology also offers improvements in brightness and color accuracy. OnePlus claims that its display has a peak brightness of 540 nits, and an improved contrast ratio of 1,700:1. The colors are also said to be more accurate and vibrant than ever before.

All in all, OnePlus’s latest screen technology appears to be a major step forward for smartphone users who often find themselves in less-than-optimal weather conditions. With its waterproof design, improved brightness, and improved color accuracy, the new screens could drastically reduce the risk of damage due to liquid infiltration or contact with dust and dirt. We’re likely to see other smartphone manufacturers soon follow suit with similarly advanced technologies, so hopefully we can look forward to having greater protection from the elements as the phone technology continues to evolve.
