Are you starving after stepping off a long flight and can’t bear to go through the dreaded airport food court? Now, that’s no longer a problem — at least at some of the biggest US airports. A growing number of the major airports now offer food delivery directly to your gate.
It all started back in 2018 when Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport began offering food gate delivery from some of the airport restaurants. Passengers simply place their order with a restaurant, and the restaurant delivers the food directly to the specific gate. By 2020, more and more airports had followed suit.
Today, some of the largest airports in the US allow travelers to order food to their gates, from fast food items to higher-end cuisine. Participating airports include JFK and LaGuardia in New York, DFW International Airport in Texas, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, and Los Angeles International Airport. All offer different restaurants and cuisines to choose from, including chains like McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A, and Starbucks, as well as local restaurants such as Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Dallas-Fort Worth and Jersey Mike’s Subs in Los Angeles.
Taking advantage of this new service is easy. You can either order through the airport’s mobile app or by calling the participating restaurant directly. Some airports even offer delivery through apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash. Plus, you can have your food delivered even if you’re not at your gate yet. All you have to do is provide the restaurant with your gate, flight number, and your estimated time of arrival.
Food delivery to the gate is the perfect solution for travelers who are short on time or don’t have time to go through the long lines at the restaurants inside the airport. Plus, travelers don’t have to worry about searching for somewhere to eat when they’re exhausted after a long flight. Just order your favorite meal and have it delivered to your seat.
So the next time you pass through one of the major airports in the US, don’t stress about finding something to eat. With food delivery to your gate, you have one less worry on your travels.
