The Last of Us Creators Reveal How Long the Series Will Go

The Last of Us, an iconic post-apocalyptic survival horror game series by Naughty Dog, is an award-winning franchise beloved by fans around the world. Since the original game’s debut in 2013, fans have been eagerly waiting to know what comes next. Recently, creators Neil Druckmann and Anthony Newman revealed how long the series will go.

According to Druckmann, there are currently two plans to move forward with the franchise. The first is for the franchise to go on for at least another two games. This plan would see the series follow the original’s format, with two main entries: a sequel to The Last of Us and a spin-off.

The second plan is to keep the series going for many more years past the current two. While Druckmann didn’t give any exact details about what that plan would entail, he suggested that the core team would stay in place, as well as the premise of the series.

Newman was also quick to emphasize that, while the plans look ahead to the future, the core players in the series would remain the same. “It would be all the same characters, same team going forward,” he said. “That’s something that’s never changed. We’re all extremely dedicated to staying true to what we’ve already built.”

The Last of Us series has already left a lasting impression on the gaming community. With Naughty Dog’s latest announcement, it looks like the series will continue to be a beloved mainstay for many years to come. Whether it’ll span two or more entries remains to be seen, but it looks like the team behind it will be in it for the long haul. Here’s hoping that the series reaches the exciting heights that fans are expecting.
