X (formerly Twitter) makes X Pro (formerly TweetDeck) a subscriber-only product

X, formerly known as Twitter, has announced plans to make its X Pro product – formerly known as TweetDeck – a subscriber-only product. X Pro is a powerful personal social media dashboard and is currently the most popular way to manage multiple Twitter accounts in one place.

The announcement follows a period of significant growth for X Pro, with over 1.5 million unique users each month and a 60% increase in user activity in the last year alone. With this in mind, it makes sense for X to look at ways to capitalise on this success and make X Pro a subscriber-only product.

X Pro will continue to offer the same core features as its predecessor, such as the ability to manage multiple accounts from one interface and the ability to create reusable “quick messages”. However, in order to access these features users will have to pay a subscription fee.

The subscription-only model may also mean that X Pro introduces additional features designed to benefit paying subscribers. This could include advanced analytics for tracking engagement with your content and social media campaigns as well as more sophisticated automation tools for planning and scheduling posts.

In addition to introducing the subscription-only model, X is also offering a 90-day free trial for X Pro which will give users access to X Pro’s core features at no cost. After the trial period ends, users will be encouraged to subscribe and unlock the full range of features available.

It’s clear that X is looking to capitalise on the success of X Pro and make use of the power of subscription-based services to build a reliable stream of revenue. Whether this move proves successful for the company remains to be seen, but it’s certain that X Pro is well on its way to becoming an even more powerful social media management tool.
