With the legal ramifications from the Mueller Report still looming, recent news suggests that special counsel investigators have received a “some volume” of direct messages from President Donald Trump’s Twitter account.
This most recent news comes from legal memos revealed to NBC News, which state that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was able to obtain “some records” from the president’s Twitter account. These records include “direct messages” sent prior to November 2017.
The direct messages were reportedly sent from the President to some of his aides and other individuals. The memos also state that the messages were retrieved from Twitter itself, rather than from any of the aides or individuals that have received them.
The significance of this revelation is that special counsel investigators can now use the direct messages for their ongoing investigation. After all, many of these direct messages could provide valuable clues as to how the President communicated regarding the ongoing Russia investigation.
Furthermore, if the special counsel is able to uncover any evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the president, or any of his associates, then the direct messages could certainly prove to be very significant for their case.
So far, it remains to be seen just how much information the special counsel was actually able to obtain from the President’s Twitter account. It is possible that the investigators have only been able to retrieve a handful of messages, or it might be that they were able to retrieve a large amount of information.
Either way, the special counsel’s ability to gain access to the President’s direct messages is certainly a major development in the ongoing Russia investigation. It could potentially provide valuable insights into the President’s behavior and attitude towards the investigation.
