Parents know how important it is to protect their children from inappropriate content and monitor their activity online. Fortunately, the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S have parental controls that can help parents limit their child’s access to certain content and keep tabs on their activity. Here’s how to set up parental controls on your Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Step 1: Open the Settings Menu
To get started, press the Xbox button to open the guide and select the ‘Settings’ menu. You can also access the Settings menu by pressing the ‘Home’ button and scrolling to the right until you find the ‘Settings’ icon.
Step 2: Select Parental Controls
Once you’ve opened the Settings menu, select ‘Accounts’ and then ‘Family & Other People.’ You should see a list of available user accounts, select the one that belongs to your child and then select ‘Parental Controls.’
Step 3: Set Your Child’s Privacy and Online Safety Preferences
Once you’ve opened the Parental Controls menu, you can start setting up the necessary restrictions. You can determine what kind of content your child can access by selecting the ‘Privacy and Online Safety’ tab. You will be able to block certain kinds of content or set up a ‘Family Passcode’ to prevent your child from accessing certain content without a passcode.
Step 4: Set Your Child’s Social and Gaming Preferences
You can also set up restrictions that will limit your child’s ability to connect with other players or use voice chat while using the Xbox Series X & S. To do this, select the ‘Social and Gaming’ tab and set the ‘Party and Online Communication’ to ‘Friends Only’ or ‘Blocked.’
Step 5: Set Time Limits for Xbox Use
Finally, you can set a time limit for your child’s Xbox use by selecting the ‘Screen Time’ tab. You can set a daily time limit and then adjust the hours of the day that your child is able to access the console.
Setting up parental controls is an important step in ensuring your child is safe online. By following the steps outlined here, you can make sure your child is able to access the content they need and enjoy the Xbox Series X & S safely.
