It looks like there could be a new Fitbit tracker on the horizon. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently approved a Fitbit device called “FCC 2020 … A,” which has speculation swirling about what the new device could be.
The filing with the FCC didn’t offer any details about the new device, but it did provide us with a few clues. The device is listed as an Activity Tracker with a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection and features acceleration and gyroscope sensors. It also looks like the device has interchangeable bands — and judging by the filing, it has multiple sizes.
There has been some speculation that the device could be a new version of Fitbit’s Versa fitness-tracking smartwatch. Fitbit recently released the Versa 2 last September, so it may seem too soon for a new version, but the Versa 2 is essentially a slight upgrade of the original Versa.
It’s also possible that the new device could be a children’s version of the Versa series. With the sensors and interchangeable bands, it could be designed for younger users. The device could also be Fitbit’s first foray into the swimming tracker market. Having a device made for water activities, and with the small size of the device, it might be just what Fitbit needs to break into the market.
Whatever the case may be, this new device has piqued the curiosity of many Fitbit fans. It looks like only time will tell what the device is, but it could be an interesting device with features that many users have been waiting for.
