Even Twitter Can’t Kill Twitter | Letter From the Editor

Greetings readers,

We are living in a world where technology has advanced at an unprecedented speed. It has impacted our lives immensely, with social networking platforms like Twitter allowing us to keep track of our favorite people, brands, and trends all in one place. But what happens when the platform that made them famous in the first place becomes the source of their downfall?

Twitter is notorious for being a place where users can be held accountable – by having their voices heard and their tweets seen by millions. As it reaches its 10-year milestone in 2021, Twitter has weathered many storms, with its user base fluctuating and scrutiny coming from all directions.

It’s no secret that Twitter can be a dangerous place. Just a few clicks of the mouse can make or break a reputation, and the temptation to use the platform for personal gain can be hard to resist. But despite the damage it can do, Twitter remains a powerful tool that can’t be ignored, especially for those in the public eye. It’s the only platform that offers instantaneous dissemination of information.

Though the use of Twitter can be risky, its reach still surpasses any other social media platform. This growth in its global reach sees Twitter continue to be a vital part of the media landscape. It has the potential to create new connections, bridge gaps, and start conversations on a global scale.

In my opinion, Twitter will never fully die out, as it continues to bring forth new voices and ideas. It’s a platform that encourages communication, fosters debate, and provides an opportunity for those who are marginalised to join the conversation.

Though the recent wave of mass censorship has struck a heavy blow to the platform, I’m confident that Twitter will always remain relevant. For better or for worse, I believe that Twitter can’t be killed, and its potential to shape our society should never be ignored.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Sincerely,

Editor
