Third time’s the charm? Sony makes $200 PlayStation Portal in-home handheld official

Sony has just released the latest addition to their beloved Playstation franchise, introducing the PlayStation Portal in-home handheld for just $200. The Playstation Portal is the newest iteration of a handheld console and is an upgrade from the PlayStation Vita, providing gamers with yet another way to experience their favourite titles.

This is the third attempt from Sony to create an in-home portable gaming system, with the two previous devices being less successful than expected. But the Playstation Portal is a marked improvement over those previous iterations, as it offers a much larger, high-definition screen and is powered by a powerful Dualshock 4 controller.

The Playstation Portal also offers a quality library of games that can be accessed via the PlayStation Now streaming game service, which is also available on other Sony devices. And similar to the Nintendo Switch, the Playstation Portal has the ability to be used both as a handheld and as a console. As a handheld, it’s perfect for playing on the couch, while it can be connected to a TV to play in console mode.

Another bonus to the Playstation Portal is the inclusion of Sony’s exclusive line of games. Players will be able to access games like Uncharted, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn without having to purchase a separate console.

All in all, it looks like Sony may have finally hit the nail on the head with the Playstation Portal. The combination of a powerful controller, a user-friendly design, and access to exclusive Sony games make this the ideal device for gamers of all types. Only time will tell if the Playstation Portal is the third time’s a charm for Sony, but that doesn’t seem to be the case so far.
