Good news for all adventure fans: Revoultion Software have just announced Broken Sword – Parvizal’s Stone, a remake of the seminal Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, it’s a long-running series of point-and-click adventure games which began back in 1996. Since then, there have been 4 full-fledged sequels, as well as a spin-off, making the series a cult classic within the genre.
The remake, Broken Sword – Parvizal’s Stone is an updated version of the original game and will feature revised puzzles, updated visuals, and new voiceovers. It promises to bring the same classic adventure game appeal to the modern age, appealing to both long-time fans as well as those who are new to the series.
In addition to the remake, Revolution Software have also announced they are working on a remake of the first Broken Sword game, which released way back in 1996. This time, however, the remake will be released for modern consoles, such as the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Given the remake of the first game is still in development, there is no news yet on when the remake will be released. The remake of Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars is due for release later this year, however, and is sure to be a treat for anyone who is a fan of the genre.
Overall, this is exciting news for anyone who has always wanted to try the Broken Sword series, but never had the chance. With the remake of the first game on the way, as well as the updated version of the second game on its way, those that have been fans of the series for years finally have something to look forward to.
