Denis Villeneuve, the acclaimed director of films such as ‘Arrival’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’, is returning to the Dune universe for a third time. His highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s ‘Dune’ is already in the works.
Villeneuve’s first foray into the iconic sci-fi universe was his take on ‘Dune’ in 2020. Although it may have lacked critical success the film did manage to bring in a tidy sum at the box office, becoming one of the 2020’s highest-grossing films.
His second project in the franchise is already in production. Set to be released in 2023, ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’ will focus on a group of powerful female figures who will have a major impact on the future of the universe. This will be the first film of its kind in the ‘Dune’ universe as previous installments have tended to focus on the male characters.
Villeneuve is also set to direct the third film in the series, ‘Dune: The Book of Ambrosius’. The movie follows the story of the mysterious and enigmatic figure who played a major role in the first film. Little is known about the character’s motivations or his backstory, and this latest movie is sure to fill that in.
The upcoming films are sure to be jam-packed with action, drama, and plenty of surprises. Fans of Villeneuve’s earlier works will be thrilled to see him return to the Dune universe, and are sure to be eagerly awaiting the release of his future projects.
