EVgo’s New Year’s resolution: make its EV fast-charging network more reliable

As the new year rolls in, EVgo has announced its 2021 resolution to improve the reliability of its electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging network. The largest public fast-charging network in the United States, EVgo’s mission is to make charging an EV as convenient as fueling a gasoline-powered vehicle.

The first steps to achieving this goal involve expanding the scope of their network and making improvements to existing charging locations. To do this, the company is rolling out new next-generation chargers to better meet the needs of the growing EV sector. These new chargers will feature the latest “charge three” technology, meaning they can charge any type of EV on the market.

EVgo is also streamlining its charging process, allowing drivers to locate and reserve available chargers ahead of time, reducing the stress of potential wait times. This new feature would allow drivers to quickly locate a charger near them and make a reservation, regardless of the previous user’s charging status.

Finally, EVgo plans to leverage their new “NetPass” subscription program to allow drivers to take advantage of discounted rates on charging fees. By subscribing, drivers will have access to the same discounted rates no matter which charging location they visit. This would ensure drivers are not overcharged for the cost of charging, and also eases some of the burden associated with frequent charging.

As the EV industry continues to grow, EVgo is looking to keep up with the times by making reliable and cost-effective charging possible for drivers. By expanding their network, offering timely reservations, and enhanced discounts for subscribers, EVgo hopes to fulfill its resolution of providing a more reliable and convenient charging experience for drivers in 2021 and beyond.
