The much-anticipated Scream VI trailer dropped recently and it looks set to be a summer blockbuster. The trailer, full of suspense, introduces us to a city that has been overrun by a murderous ghost, Ghostface. The population of the city is in the millions, yet, despite their numbers, the citizens are seemingly powerless against this supernatural killer. The trailer offers no clues as to how or why this Ghostface was unleashed on the city, but it quickly becomes clear that a new kind of terror is being implemented in the anonymous city.
The majority of the trailer follows the perspective of an unseen hero: a terrified individual in pursuit of the killer. As they drive through the city, Ghostface can be heard behind them, relentlessly hunting them down. They drive through an empty city, devoid of people. Those that are present are in hiding, unable to help. After a series of close calls, the ghost puts an end to their pursuit and takes on a bloodier form than we have seen before. It is quite clear that this is just one of the many victims of Ghostface’s vengeful activities.
The trailer also brings up some intriguing questions. How did the killer get into the city? What precisely is their motivation? Who is responsible for unleashing this terror on the population? The trailer wisely avoids providing any answers, opting instead to keep us in the dark. Despite this, it’s clear that the city is no match for the Ghostface.
What is particularly interesting about the trailer is that it continues to fuel the mystery surrounding the Ghostface character. Although we can see that the creature is highly intelligent and adept at eluding capture, we know nothing about its agenda. Are its kills random or does it have a purpose for its killing sprees? With the release of Scream VI, we’re sure to get some answers.
The trailer for Scream VI indicates that this is one horror movie that we should not miss. It looks like a truly suspenseful ride, and one that is sure to keep audiences at the edge of their seats. It’s clear that, no matter the population of the city, Ghostface is the one that cannot be stopped.
