Netflix teams up with Bumble so users can bond over popular TV shows

Netflix has joined forces with dating app Bumble in an effort to bring users even closer together. The new feature, entitled “Netflix Party,” allows Bumble users to sync up their Netflix accounts and watch a show together, all from the comfort of their own homes.

Netflix Party is a free feature that is accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, allowing users to sync up their accounts and invite their matches to a virtual date night. Once the show begins, users can chat through a built-in messaging service and even pause and rewind when needed.

The collaboration between Netflix and Bumble comes as more people are turning to streaming services for entertainment these days. With millions of subscribers across the globe, Netflix has seen no shortage of interest for its library of content. Bumble is looking to capitalize on this trend by offering users a unique way of connecting with one another by using the power of Netflix.

The idea to team up with Netflix came from Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd, who was inspired by her own experience of dating with streaming services. “One night, when I was out with a guy we had just started seeing, Netflix kept pausing the show to ask us if we wanted to watch it together on our devices,” said Wolfe Herd. “That spontaneous moment of connection is what I wanted to replicate for our users.”

Netflix Party promises to be a fun and easy way for Bumble users to connect with one another, by sharing a common love of Netflix shows and movies. With the coronavirus pandemic still ongoing, it may be the perfect solution for those seeking a virtual date night. So, grab the popcorn and snuggle up with your favorite person and Netflix – you won’t regret it.
