Getty Images sues AI art generator Stable Diffusion in the US for copyright infringement

The copyright infringement lawsuit between Getty Images, one of the world’s largest image library, and Stable Diffusion, a UK-based AI art generator, has been gaining a lot of attention. Getty Images has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Stable Diffusion in the US, claiming that Stable Diffusion has been using their imagery without proper authorization or payment.

According to the alleges, Stable Diffusion has been using Getty’s images to create digital artwork with the help of artificial intelligence. However, the company failed to obtain the correct licenses and permissions from Getty Images to use its images in the creation of AI-generated digital artwork.

The lawsuit states that Stable Diffusion has been creating derivative works based on Getty’s images and making them available to the public without acknowledgement, credit, or paying any license fees – something that is in direct violation of copyright laws.

Getty has reportedly asked Stable Diffusion to remove all its AI-generated artwork from public view and provide compensation for the infringement. However, the company failed to comply with the request, leading Getty to file a copyright infringement lawsuit in US Federal Court.

The lawsuit is a good reminder for all companies to be mindful of copyright law when using content created by others. Getty Images has long been a leader in the world of copyright law, and its lawsuit against Stable Diffusion is a good example of how it is carefully monitoring its intellectual property and taking action when necessary. It will be interesting to see how the lawsuit plays out and what the outcome will be.
