Steve Bannon’s Podcast Takes Top Spot for Misinformation, Calls It a ‘Badge of Honor’

The power of misinformation has been on the rise over the last few years and Steve Bannon, a former White House advisor and president of Breitbart News, is no stranger to this. As of August 2020, Bannon’s podcast titled “War Room Pandemic” has taken the top spot for the most visited podcast, surpassing the likes of the New York Times’ “The Daily” and NPR’s “Up First.”

Bannon has shown little remorse for the false information he has spread with his podcast. He has even gone so far to as to call it a “badge of honor.” Bannon’s rise to the top spot for podcasts has coincided with a growing reliance of false and misleading information by the public.

Bannon has spread false information about COVID-19 and its treatments, misinformation about the presidential candidates, and has even spread conspiracy theories. Recently, Bannon called for the beheading of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the FBI was quick to respond by calling it a possible violation of federal law.

Such blatant disregard for the truth is dangerous and has the potential to have lasting consequences. False and misleading information has been linked to a decrease in overall trust in media sources, as well as a greater polarization of opinions.

Overall, Steve Bannon has taken the top spot for podcasts by spreading false and misleading information and calling it “a badge of honor.” This disregard for the truth can have damaging effects on society and must be taken seriously in order to prevent any further spread of misinformation. Unfortunately, it seems that Bannon’s Podcast is here to stay, at least until the public stops paying attention to it.
