In a bid to make video calling more convenient and effortless, WhatsApp is rolling out its picture-in-picture mode on iPhones. This new feature will allow iPhone users to continue their video calls while multitasking and perform other tasks such as sending and reading messages or browsing the internet.
WhatsApp picture-in-picture mode, also known as PIP mode, is the latest addition to the platform’s already extensive list of features. The main idea behind this feature is to provide users with an uninterrupted experience when it comes to video calls. This was one of the top requests from WhatsApp users and with this new addition, it looks like the platform has finally addressed the request.
To Activate the Picture-in-Picture feature, open the video chat window, tap the Home bar and your video call with the other person will be minimized to a small window. This window can be moved around your screen, enabling you to multi-task without the need of closing the video call window.
In addition to the PIP mode, WhatsApp has also included several other useful features in its latest update. For example, users can now be ‘muted’ in group calls eradicating the need to mute everyone every time they enter a group call.
The Picture-in-Picture mode is currently being rolled out on iOS devices only and is expected to come to Android devices in the near future.
Overall, WhatsApp’s ‘Picture-in-Picture’ mode is a welcome addition to its already impressive list of features and will undoubtedly enhance the user experience when it comes to video calls. With this addition, WhatsApp users no longer need to worry about multitasking while they are in the middle of a video call, making the experience that much more enjoyable.
