It has been an exciting time for Apple fans as the company recently released its latest update, the iOS 14.5. This new version brings a whole set of new emojis, security measures, and performance improvements to the popular iOS ecosystem.
The new emojis include a varied array of faces, gestures, and new ‘pins’. Face emojis include a wider range of skin types and genders, along with new hairdos, clothing, and a ‘love you’ gesture. The pins introduce a new part of the emoji language, allowing users to express feelings and attach sticky notes to conversations.
Also included in the update is an exclusive new super-app, Showtime. It is a premium streaming service that combines the full catalog of Showtime with original movies, series and live sports. The service joins the already impressive selection of streaming-apps available on Apple devices like Disney+, Hulu, and soon Paramount+. The latter will offer a costlier subscription tier than its counterparts, but the added selection of content will likely be worth the premium fee.
Another exciting announcement from the Apple kingdom is Instagram launching its Channels feature. This new feature gives businesses and content creators a platform to broadcast live-streams and curate stories. The channel content is hosted through Instagram’s Live-Room or Library, allowing producers to select topics like “Live Shopping”, “Sports Break”, “Creative Show” and more to feature. Live events can be shared to Discovery, giving businesses and streamers the opportunity to reach a larger audience.
Overall, the most recent Apple update provides users with a range of new features to explore, from new emojis, exclusive streaming content from Showtime, to hosting live-streams with Instagram’s Channels. It goes to show that Apple is continuing to provide their loyal customers with the best of what the entertainment industry has to offer.
