Recently, Patty Jenkins – director of Wonder Woman 1984 and the OG Wonder Woman movie – has had to clear up the plethora of reports that took the internet by storm, regarding Wonder Woman 3 and the recently announced Rogue Squadron movies.
It all started when Collider reported that Jenkins had a multfilm deal with Warner Bros. Along with her payed involvement with Rogue Squadron and Wonder Woman 3, the report also indicated that other directors were going to join in the fun and direct future installments.
Jenkins has since made a statement in response to these rumors and begun to set the record straight. Speaking to John Campea on the John Campea podcast, Jenkins made it clear that her deal was exclusive and was only concerning the two movies, not future installments.
In her statement, Jenkins said: “…what I meant when I was talking was that, yeah, I have an overall deal with them and, you know, it’s normally a 3-picture deal, but as it stands right now, I have only committed to Wonder Woman 1984 and the one thing I’ve committed to doing with that overall deal is that I’m committing to making Wonder Woman 3.”
In regard to the rumors of future directors helming the franchise, Jenkins made sure to clarify that she is still the mastermind behind the series. She stated “But I think that we [Warner Bros.] are confident I would be the one to shepherd the franchise and see it through, as I’ve done it twice.”
Though both Jenkins and Warner Bros. remain quiet on the rumors revolving around Rogue Squadron, Jenkins had wonderful things to say about the film and these included: “It’s a foray into a different corner of the DC Universe and the goal of that is definitely to make something very cool and distinct. You know, visually distinctive and storywise distinctive.”
This statement has certainly put some of the rumors to rest and put Wonder Woman (Jenkins) fans minds at ease. Regardless, Jenkins and Warner Bros. are remaining tightlipped till more news arises with regards to both the Rogue Squadron and Wonder Woman film franchises.
