BioShock 4: everything we know about the new BioShock

In 2007, Irrational Games created one of the most unique gaming experiences of all time with the release of BioShock. The immersive, narrative-driven shooter was praised for its art direction and story. Fast forward to 2021, and the fourth installment of the beloved franchise, BioShock 4, is still relatively shrouded in mystery. After years of speculation, 2K Games finally announced the official sequel at The Game Awards 2020, and fans are eagerly awaiting the game.

So, what do we know about BioShock 4? Though details remain scarce, 2K has confirmed that the new BioShock will be developed by Cloud Chamber, a newly established studio featuring veteran talent from many renowned video game companies. According to the studio, the game will continue the spirit of the first BioShock by offering an immersive and deep story.

In terms of gameplay, 2K Games and Cloud Chamber have said that BioShock 4 will take place in an all-new setting, the city of Rapture. This return to the series’ classic setting is sure to bring with it the same horror and terror of the original classic. However, it’s been hinted that the new BioShock may introduce significant new game mechanics. For example, in BioShock 4 the player might be able to hack the environment or even control machines or enemies.

Of course, the world of Rapture is incomplete without those unforgettable enemies – the Big Daddies and Little Sisters. 2K Games and Cloud Chamber have revealed that these iconic characters will make a return in BioShock 4, but so far no further details have been shared.

Finally, we know that BioShock 4 is coming to the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it’s expected to launch sometime in 2022. While there is still much to learn about the game, fans of the original BioShock can look forward to a thrilling new adventure.
