These days, all anyone can talk about is TikTok. While it has brought a lot of attention – and money – to the streaming world, not everything needs to be TikTok.
TikTok is a short-form video platform that has become immensely popular. It’s easy to create short videos and add music, and it has become the go-to platform for Gen Zs. However, it has also become an incredibly lucrative tool for many artists and labels, as music streaming is at an all-time high.
That said, Spotify is still a major player in the music streaming world and it doesn’t need to be overshadowed by TikTok. It’s built its own suite of streaming products, such as Spotify Radio and Spotify Connect. Additionally, it’s created its own playlist like Spotify Viral 50 and Daily Mixes.
These types of products and services can’t be found on TikTok, and they offer a unique, more nuanced experience for fans of certain genres and subcultures. That said, combining elements of both platforms can be beneficial. For example, Spotify could create a special playlist catered to TikTok videos, or even have a section of its app dedicated to TikTok videos. That way, they could reach a much wider audience while still staying true to the platform’s core mission.
In short, Spotify should not be overshadowed by the hype surrounding TikTok. It has the potential to be a powerful streaming platform in its own right, and it’s already made some big strides in that direction. By finding a balance between the two, Spotify could become a much larger force in the streaming industry. There’s no need for it to be TikTok, and that’s a good thing.
