The Oscars, the world’s most prestigious and celebrated awards show, are fast-approaching in 2023. Every year, filmmakers and actors from around the world vie for the coveted Oscar statuette, and this year is no exception. We’ve already seen some big titles vying for nominations, including the highly anticipated Avatar sequels and the new James Bond film, No Time To Die. But just what can audiences expect from the 93rd Academy Awards? Here’s all the latest from film’s biggest awards show.
As expected, Avatar 2 is likely to be one of the biggest snubs at this year’s awards show. Despite receiving some early buzz from critics, the sequel, which is set to be released in December, has been plagued by behind-the-scenes delays. As a result, it’s now not expected to be released in time for an Oscar nomination.
Despite the absence of Avatar 2, there’s still plenty of exciting films in contention. Prominent among them is the masterfully directed No Time To Die, the 25th installment in the James Bond franchise. Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the film is set to be one of the most ambitious and universally acclaimed entries in the long-running series. It looks set to be a front-runner for Best Picture at the 2023 Oscars.
As well as No Time To Die and Avatar 2, several other blockbusters are likely to be vying for awards next year. Among them is Marvel’s much anticipated Black Widow, a prequel to the Avengers movies which stars Scarlett Johansson in the titular role. Also in contention will be the upcoming Dune adaptation, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson.
This year’s Oscars are likely to be an exciting affair, with some of the biggest and best names from the world of film vying for coveted awards. Keep your eyes peeled for further news as 2023 gets closer and the nominations are revealed.
