Live blog: Twitter chaos – Musk disables Spaces due to ‘legacy bug’ apparently

The beloved Twitter Spaces feature has been temporarily disabled due to a “legacy bug” that was discovered.

Tesla founder Elon Musk tweeted the news, citing a “bug” that was apparently caused by an outdated software. He clarified that Twitter is working on a fix and he expects it to be up and running again soon.

The disabling of Spaces comes at a time when Twitter is trying to boost user engagement and endear its users to the platform. Twitter Spaces is a relatively new feature on the platform that allows up to 10 people in a live audio chat.

The feature was seen as the answer to Clubhouse, a related platform that offers similar audio group chats. Earlier in the month Twitter announced a new set of features to enhance Spaces, such as the ability to join conversations safely.

Unfortunately, this latest bug has temporarily disabled the feature.

Many users of the platform took to Twitter to express their disappointment and confusion over the bug. There was a lot of speculation about why the bug occurred and how long it would take for it to be addressed.

It remains unclear why the bug occurred, but Twitter has been quick to reassure users that the feature will be back up soon. As of now, there is no timeline for when the bug will be fixed, but users can expect the feature to be operational soon.

Until then, users will have to make do without the popular feature. Many have expressed their frustration that the feature was taken down just as it started to gain popularity. But most are just excited to have the feature back up and running as soon as possible.
