The Austin tech scene is abuzz with a fresh batch of innovations. Cruise Origin, WeRide and TuSimple are among the players stirring up the scene.
Cruise Origin, the brainchild of a technology platform providing services to riders and drivers, is making its noteworthy move into Austin. Its integrated tech platform allows drivers to make hassle-free trips, from point A to point B. The goal of Cruise Origin is to be a one-stop shop for all riders’ needs and improvement upon the existing ride-sharing experience. Through their platform, drivers can access discounts, faster pickups and provide a less stressful ride. Since their founding, Cruise Origin has managed to onboard hundreds of riders and drivers, as well as earn a Series A round of funding from Atomic Labs, an Austin-based venture capital firm.
In other news, WeRide, an autonomous vehicle provider, has finally announced its IPO. After much anticipation, the company has teamed up with JD.com to go live. WeRide was created to improve the overall autonomous vehicle experience by providing customers with more choices. They kickstarted their service by offering a fleet of rental vehicles and have since expanded to their own fleet of Level 4 self-driving taxis. Now that they have gone public, WeRide is looking forward to advancing the technology and services they provide.
TuSimple, a self-driving truck technology provider, is also making waves. The company is looking to reignite the trucking industry by implementing safer and more efficient logistics services. TuSimple recently launched its autonomous freight network to simplify the freight transportation process for shippers and carriers. Additionally, TuSimple has been working closely with the United States Automated Vehicle Mobility association in order to ensure their tech meets nationwide standards.
Austin is now at the forefront of autonomous vehicles space, thanks to the tremendous contribution of the aforementioned companies. These three have already made their mark on the industry, and it’s exciting to see what the future holds for them.
