Netflix is adding Monument Valley next year as part of its continued gaming push

Netflix is expanding once again, this time into the realm of video games with the announcement that Monument Valley is joining the platform in 2021.

Monument Valley is a critically acclaimed game from 2014, which saw players complete a variety of puzzles by manipulating the landscape and beautiful art style. The game was widely praised by critics and quickly gained a cult following that has been clamoring for a sequel.

This announcement will certainly be welcome news to those fans, as well as anyone looking for a unique gaming experience on Netflix. This is the streaming giant’s first foray into video games on its platform and is evidence of the company’s continued commitment to bringing diverse and engaging content for its subscribers.

Of course, the game won’t be available on Netflix the same way one would stream a movie or television show. Instead, the title will be an Interactive Adventure game, similar to the previously existing titles featured on the platform. This means viewers will be able to actually interact with the game and guide the protagonist through the puzzles and levels.

This brings an entirely new level of engagement to the Netflix experience, and could potentially be a goldmine for the company should the format be successful. Such gaming experiences could even be bundled in with the streaming service, and Netflix could begin crafting its own exclusive titles, further expanding its audience and offerings.

For now, though, we can certainly be excited that Monument Valley is finally coming to Netflix in the new year. With the potential the game has within the platform and the anticipation its fans have been building up over the years, Monument Valley could prove to be a key stepping stone towards a new age of streaming outlets offering exclusive content.
