March is a great month for PlayStation Plus subscribers as Sony is offering some highly sought-after free games for PS Plus members this month. This month’s free games are a bit heavy on the indie side, with some AAA titles thrown in the mix, offering a varied selection for gamers of all tastes.
First up is Destruction AllStars, the vehicular combat game from Lucid Games and Sony that released in February. The game plays a bit like a cross between Twisted Metal, Rocket League, and Overwatch, as you control a hero in their own customizable vehicle and compete in a series of game modes in a variety of off-the-wall, explosive arenas.
Next up is the ground-breaking narrative experience Control. Developed by the talented Remedy Entertainment, Control puts you in the shoes of Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control, who is tasked with unraveling the secrets and mysteries of the Bureau’s headquarters known as the Oldest House. Jesse is also tracking down a mysterious entity known as the Hiss. Control offers a blend of third-person action, platforming, puzzles and a story that keeps you guessing until the very end.
Sticking with the indie titles are Maquette and Farpoint, both from developer and publisher Starkling Industries. Maquette is a first-person puzzle game where you explore recursive and interconnected environments to solve puzzles. You must manipulate the world around you and visit different locations to open new paths or find the solution to each puzzle.
Meanwhile, Farpoint is a sci-fi first-person shooter set in a distant future where a group of astronauts have been stranded on a hostile alien world. Armed with futuristic weapons, you must brave the planet’s hostile inhabitants as you attempt to survive and complete your mission.
The line-up concludes with Windjammers 2 – the sequel to the classic arcade sports game, and Concrete Genie – a charming and unique adventure game where you play as a teen artist Gennosuke, who must help bring a once thriving seaside town full of life with the help of some magical paintbrushes.
With such a varied selection of games, there’s something for everyone this month on PlayStation Plus. Whether you’re a fan of indie games, AAA titles, puzzles, shooters, sports or something else entirely, there’s something for you to sink your teeth into. So don’t miss out and experience some of the best games available on the PlayStation 4.
