Google’s ChatGPT rival Bard is now in beta but you’ll have to join the queue

As Google continues to build on its impressive AI services portfolio, the tech giant’s latest effort, Bard, is poised to take on the natural language chatbot, ChatGPT, with much anticipation. With Bard now in beta, it’s time to see what all the hype is about, but you might have to join a queue to do it.

Bard was designed to engage in human-like conversations, understand the context of conversations, and answer complex questions. It’s based on open-domain dialog, which means it can converse on almost any topic. But unlike ChatGPT, Bard is powered by Transfer Learning, which allows it to learn from existing conversation data and quickly adapt to new conversations. This makes for better conversations and also allows for faster development.

At this stage, only users who request an invite will be able to access the beta version of Bard, although more invites are expected to be released in the future. Once you’ve made the cut, the best part about Bard is that it requires very little setup – all you need to do is link it to a Google account, type in a few prompts, and the bot is ready to go.

So far, the insiders who’ve used Bard suggest that the bot is making great strides in terms of both conversational ability and learning speed. It’s also great for short casual conversations with friends, as well as longer more sophisticated ones. As Google improves on its AI services and continues to develop new features, we can only wait and see how Bard will fare against ChatGPT.

In the meantime, those eager to try out Google’s new AI chatbot need to join the queue and request an invitation. With its decent conversational ability and learning speed, Bard is sure to become a great addition to any AI chatbot collection.
