Microsoft is a company that is known for provides tools and services to help people be productive. However, in recent years they seem to have been messing with the Windows 11 taskbar and it has put many people off using the operating system.
The taskbar is a fundamental part of the Windows experience, used to access applications and to switch between them efficiently. Microsoft has decided to redesign this feature in the latest versions of Windows 11, introducing a range of new customization options. On the surface this sounds great, but there are several issues users have been reporting which suggest that this is anything but.
First, the new taskbar design is less intuitive than the original. Instead of at-a-glance icons for each application, now there is a confusing array of options. Additionally, the lack of a well-defined distinction between the two taskbars may result in users being confused and frustrated when trying to switch between them.
Second, the customization options make it difficult to customize the taskbar in a meaningful way. This is particularly problematic for those who prefer to keep their taskbar clean and uncluttered. In addition, if a user does attempt to customize their taskbar, the changes may be lost if the OS is rebooted or updates take place.
Finally, Microsoft has chosen to make the taskbar this go-to destination for various features and functions, making it difficult to find the tools and programs that users are looking for. This can make using the taskbar exceedingly time-consuming, and can lead to a lack of productivity overall.
It’s a shame that Microsoft has decided to “tinker” with such a fundamental part of the Windows experience. Despite their best intentions, it appears that Microsoft’s tinkering with the Windows 11 taskbar has only caused further frustration for many users. Here’s hoping that Microsoft will take note of the concerns that have been raised and revert back to the classic design in the near future.
