The thriller fans amongst us were thrilled when the initial teaser dropped for the remake of the 1988 classic Dead Ringers, but it has now ramped up even further with the release of the film’s full-length trailer. The trailer promises an exhilarating and suspenseful ride as we see stars Milly Bobby Brown, Samara Weaving, and Rita Ora head-to-head in an unexpected story of “tainted love and a twisted sisterhood”.
The film, directed by Isaac Ezban, follows Brown and Weaving as two estranged sisters – Margo and Nell – who were separated at a young age due to a family mystery only known to their mother. They mysteriously meet once again as adults in Los Angeles and find that despite the years and their differences, they share an unspeakable bond. The two young ladies quickly fall into a deep love-triangle with one man, played by r’n’b star Rita Ora. What begins as a passionate yet innocent relationship between the two sisters quickly turns sour as they begin to compete for the same man, leading to a clash of jealousies and rivalries.
As mentioned in the trailer, “It’s the story of two women… and the terrifying power of their love”. The fearsome intensity of their love for one another spills over into a maelstrom of complex emotions, leading to a rollercoaster climax in the vein of a blood-drenched Psycho. We are promised “a fever-dream of psychological drama” as the sisters battle for the love of the same man – and each other.
The trailer oozes with ominous tension, showing us glimpses of Margo and Nell reunited and struggling to grapple with the complex tapestry of emotions that crescendo into a violent and ugly form of love. The film itself promises to be a thrilling and intricately drawn out tale of how far the power of human emotion can reach.
Dead Ringers is set to be released in US theaters on March 19th, with a UK release on April 2nd. The trailer alone is a gripping tale of suspense, with just enough to get us excitedly anticipating what’s to come in this unique and atmospheric remake of a classic.
