The Game Awards 2022 was a highly anticipated event, and it certainly did not disappoint. This year’s show brought a wealth of new announcements and trailers, with the most exciting ones coming from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
Sony made several interesting revelations, with the biggest news certainly being the announcement of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5. The console was detailed and includes plenty of exciting features, such as 8K graphics and ray-tracing. Furthermore, new backwards compatibility modes were revealed, allowing gamers to dust off their PS3 and PS2 discs and enjoy them once again.
Microsoft unveiled a few new titles, such as the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops–Cold War, Forza Motorsport 8 and Gears Tactics. They also detailed the next installment of the Xbox Series X, giving gamers a better look at what’s in store.
Nintendo also made a few big announcements at the show, including the newest version of the Nintendo Switch, the Switch Pro. This console will be beefier in comparison with the current Switch, sporting a more powerful processor, larger battery and 4K graphics.
Perhaps the biggest reveal of the night was the announcement of a brand new game: Grand Theft Auto V. After years of rumors and speculation, fans finally got their first look at the game, and it looks stunning. Furthermore, the developers announced that the game will also be releasing for the next-gen consoles.
Several other titles were also announced during the show, such as Stardew Valley 2, Rainbow Six Quarantine and from Software’s Elden Ring. Fans were treated to some amazing trailers throughout the night and it’s safe to say that all the studios had something to show us.
All in all, The Game Awards 2022 delivered the goods and then some. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all had some incredible reveals in store for fans, giving us a glimpse of the future of gaming. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for gamers in the upcoming year!
