Recently, Google dismissed claims that its newly released natural language processing (NLP) model, the Back and Forth Adversarial Network (Bard AI), plagiarized from another leading language processing model known as ChatGPT.
Google first released Bard AI in February 2021, claiming that it was the first NLP model to bridge Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and natural language generation (NLG). NLU allows users to enter natural language requests, while NLG uses generated responses to allow machines to respond more naturally.
ChatGPT is a model developed by researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It is a dialogue-based model for machine learning, using publicly available information and conversation transcripts as training data to understand how people talk. The ChatGPT model was released in November 2020.
Many people accused Google of copying ChatGPT’s work when they released Bard AI in February. However, Google has denied such accusations. According to Google, Bard AI is actually an original work, and is a completely different model from ChatGPT.
The company stated that while Bard AI was inspired by ChatGPT’s work, they did not directly use any code or data from the ChatGPT model. Furthermore, Google emphasized that the concept of a dialogue model which bridges NLU and NLG was their own innovation.
Google has also emphasized that the success of their model is attributed to their use of novel techniques, such as using their Transformer architecture and the GPT-2 model. These techniques helped Bard AI achieve better performance in conversations and more accurate understanding of conversations.
Despite Google’s firm stance on the issue, ChatGPT is still not pleased with the situation. The researchers behind the model have accused Google of using their ideas without giving credit. For now, the dispute remains unresolved, with both sides continuing to debate the issue.
In conclusion, it appears that Google has denied the claims that Bard AI is a copy of ChatGPT’s work. However, until the dispute is resolved, it is hard to say who is right and who is wrong. For now, all we can do is wait and see how the argument pans out.
