As fans of Interview With the Vampire prepare for the highly-anticipated Season 2, there’s a distinct air of excitement with the announcement of a new Claudia for the series. The original Claudia, Kathryn Andresen, has departed the series due to scheduling conflicts and will be replaced by newcomer April Lane.
Lane made waves with her debut film role in “Henry’s Dream”, an independent 500-theater release that showcased her talent and earned her critical acclaim. The role of Claudia has been a dream for Lane ever since she first read the original book by Anne Rice and she is thrilled about the opportunity to bring this fantastic character to life on the small screen.
To learn more about Lane’s approach to the role, we were lucky enough to sit down with the twenty-one-year-old actress for an exclusive interview:
Q: What appeals to you about the role of Claudia in Interview With the Vampire?
A: I love that Claudia is a strong and powerful character who has been through so much in her short life. I think it’s an amazing challenge to create a character that is so complex and has such a rich backstory. Also, I was a big fan of the original movie and I am so excited to be a part of the new series.
Q: What unique elements will you bring to the role?
A: I am very methodical in my approach to acting and character development. I want to make sure I bring depth and individuality to the character and make sure I portray her correctly on the show. Additionally, I want to inject some of my own personality into the character and make sure she’s recognizable to the audience.
Q: Are you a fan of the vampire subgenre or horror movies in general?
A: I would describe myself as a horror movie enthusiast. I love a good scare and I’m a bit of a thrill-seeker, so horror and suspense are definitely something that I enjoy. I was a fan of the original Interview With the Vampire movie and I think a series based on the book is a great idea.
Q: What can fans expect from your portrayal of Claudia in Season 2?
A: Fans can expect to see a deep and unique portrayal of the character. I’m going to take the time to really get inside Claudia’s head and create a story that is real, relatable and full of emotion. I think I can bring something special to the show and I can’t wait to show viewers what I’ve got!
