Microsoft is making it easier to block annoying autoplay videos in Edge

For many internet users, one of the most annoying aspects of browsing the web is the onslaught of autoplay videos. Not only are these videos intrusive and distracting, but they often contain sound, making them unbearable when browsing with sound on. Unfortunately, many browsers have not had a good solution for preventing these intrusive autoplay videos. However, Microsoft is now making it easier to block annoying autoplay videos in their Edge browser.

Edge, the default browser on Windows 10, now allows users to block autoplay videos. By simply visiting the Advanced Settings menu and setting the “Leading Practices” option to “Block”, users can easily block unwanted autoplay videos. Most video playback is blocked with this setting, including embedded videos in websites and the in-line videos that often plague social media sites.

Although autoplay videos can be useful for some users, they can also be a major distraction. This new feature from Microsoft makes it easier to filter out these unwanted autoplay videos, and finally make browsing the internet a more pleasurable experience. This setting doesn’t just get rid of the audio from annoying autoplay videos, but also prevents them from starting in the first place. This can save users a considerable amount of time, as they no longer have to scramble to quickly find the player button to pause the video.

While some browsers have previously offered options that allow users to block autoplay videos, Microsoft’s Edge has the most comprehensive solution. By providing users with a simple and easy to use setting, users can quickly set their browser to block unwanted autoplay videos. Microsoft’s option is also more comprehensive than other browsers’ solutions, as it also blocks in-line videos, as well as embedded videos on websites.

Overall, Microsoft’s new autoplay video blocking feature is a great addition to the Edge browser. By simply visiting the Advanced Settings menu, users can now get rid of intrusive autoplay videos. This setting can be used to quickly block any type of video, including embedded videos, in-line videos, and more. Microsoft’s Edge browser now has an effective way to prevent annoying autoplay videos, making browsing the web more enjoyable.
