Over the past few days, a mysterious Windows 11 bug has been reported to affect the latest iteration of AMD’s Ryzen processors. The bug, which appears to cause the processor to simply become unresponsive in some cases, seems to coincide with the recent release of Windows 11.
Reports indicate that the bug manifests as either a hard reset or a blue screen of death. In both cases, the processor simply stops executing instructions, leaving users left with no recourse.
It appears that the bug is being caused by a conflict between Windows 11’s scheduling engine and the Ryzen processor’s architecture. Setting the processor to idle or “turbo mode” has been reported to temporarily solve the issue, allowing the processor to execute instructions without freezing.
Microsoft has yet to comment on the issue, but it is likely that a more permanent solution will be released soon. AMD has also stayed tight-lipped about the bug, offering no officially recognized workarounds.
For now, users of the Ryzen processor will have to rely on temporary solutions while they wait for an official fix from Microsoft. This bug appears to only affect the Ryzen processor, so users of other processors should be safe from experiencing the issue.
Until Microsoft releases an official fix, users of this processor have to live with the possibility that their device will become unresponsive at any time. Until then, the only options available are undependable workarounds.
