Diablo IV’s endgame looks expansive (and a bit confusing)

As the anticipation for the release of the latest addition to the Diablo franchise – Diablo IV – continues to grow, Blizzard Entertainment has been revealing more and more details about how the title’s endgame content will shape up. While many are eager to get their hands on the fourth installment of the beloved dungeon-crawling action RPG, some might be feeling a bit overwhelmed by the expansive set of endgame systems that the game has to offer.

Diablo IV’s endgame systems will include a variety of content and rewards designed to keep players engaged long after they’ve completed the game’s story campaign. The title utilizes a level-based gear progression system in which players can upgrade their equipment, as well as an improved loot system geared towards rewarding players for exploring the game’s varied environments and taking on its punishing boss battles. And, for those looking for unique challenges, there will be legendary and unique gear sets to collect.

Aside from the gear and loot, Diablo IV will also feature four endgame class-specific Battlegrounds. These endgame arenas will offer rewards through five different waves of enemies, with each wave increasing in difficulty. The goal of the Battlegrounds is to challenge players to maximize their combat tactics and put their character builds to the test. At the end of the Battlegrounds, players will earn rewards based on how quickly they completed the challenges.

This isn’t it, though – there’s also a world activity system in the works as well. This system will let players complete objectives within the world, such as completing specific dungeons and defeating mini-bosses, in order to collect rewards – thus allowing gamers to play at their own pace within the world.

With all these endgame systems in place, Diablo IV certainly promises to be an expansive and compelling experience for those looking for more after they make it through the game’s story campaign. But, it’s easy to see that there’s a lot to take in here, and experienced RPG players will be able to get the most out of this title’s endgame content. For those just beginning their journey into the world of Diablo, however, it could prove a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, Blizzard Entertainment is sure to provide plenty of support for those looking to get up to speed on the game’s detailed endgame systems.
