Throne fixes security bug that exposed creators’ private home addresses

In the midst of today’s highly digitized world, it is not uncommon for companies and individuals alike to encounter security-related issues from time to time. This was recently the case with the popular social game company, Throne. On July 22, the company revealed that a security bug was causing its players’ private home addresses to be exposed to other players.

Fortunately, Throne was able to quickly contain the situation and address the issue thereafter, releasing a statement that “the bug has been identified and remediated.” They also reassured their players that no third party had become involved in the process, nor had any information been obtained by outside entities.

The company’s swift response in this security crisis was impressive, considering that millions of game players have been enjoying Throne since its launch in 2016. Despite its size and growing base of players, however, the company was able to quickly isolate the issue and close it in a timely manner.

This latest issue serves as an important reminder for other companies to take security seriously and for players of online games to remain vigilant about the risks that come with sharing personal information over the internet.

Though Throne successfully avoided this data breach through swift action, the company is certainly no stranger to security issues. In 2018, the company released an update to their system after a hacker discovered a vulnerability that could allow for malicious attacks to be launched against players.

Fortunately, Throne has learned their lesson and has since implemented more stringent security protocols that should prevent future issues. And while the security bug may have been an inconvenience to some, Throne’s response demonstrates just how seriously they take their players’ privacy.
