‘The Acolyte’ Star Wars series will debut on Disney+ in 2024

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that the highly anticipated Star Wars series, ‘The Acolyte’, will launch in 2024 exclusively on Disney+ streaming. This news comes after months of speculation as to what the series would be about and when it would arrive.

The series is set during the ‘High Republic’ era and is described as a mystery-thriller that follows a group of rogue adventurers who explore the fringes of the galaxy. It is said to be darker in overall tone and promises an exploration of a time of turmoil in the Star Wars universe.

The series will feature a variety of new characters and returning faces, such as the young Jedi Padawan that was revealed in a teaser trailer during the Disney Investor day in December. Little else is known about plot or title of the series, but we can expect more details to emerge as its release date draws closer.

Disney is no stranger to bringing Star Wars to streaming, with their collaboration with Netflix leading to the Jedi Master series and their own Mandalorian series on Disney+. With this news, their commitment to bringing Star Wars to life on its streaming platform is clear.

The success of ‘The Mandalorian’ and its spin-off series has undoubtedly fueled this decision, and with the success of shows such as ‘WandaVision’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, there’s no doubt that ‘The Acolyte’ will become a major hit.

This show will be a unique addition to the already successful Disney+ library, and with its dark tones, it looks set to give fans a different look at the Star Wars universe. With a 2024 release, fans have a long wait ahead of them, but with Disney’s track record, ‘The Acolyte’ is guaranteed to be worth the wait.
