In a move to update its aged operating system, Microsoft has come out with Windows 11, a new look for their existing OS. For those who were expecting big changes and a sweeping redesign, they may be in for a bit of a let down as the new look is far from a dramatic departure from the classic Windows style.
The new Microsoft Windows 11 is being marketed as an attempt to modernize the OS and make it easier to navigate and use. The interface is clean and simple with an emphasis on the use of vibrant colors and flat shapes, a far cry from the 3D effects of Windows 10. As part of their efforts to make the OS more user friendly and modern, they have dropped the traditional “Start” menu and replaced it with a “Skype” menu. This revamped menu, which can be accessed by clicking the Windows button at the bottom left of the screen, offers quick shortcuts to popular apps like Skype and Office.
In addition to the new look, Windows 11 also includes a host of new features. One of the main focuses this time around is on improving productivity; Microsoft has included a range of task management apps to help users get the most out of their day and stay on task. Furthermore, they have added in features to help users keep their data safe and secure, such as encryption and two-factor authentication. However, this emphasis on productivity may end up becoming a bit of a problem; the new interface can feel a bit cluttered at times, and it’s not always user friendly.
Overall,Microsoft’s Windows 11 is an attempt to freshen up the look of their aging operating system. The new colourful, flat design is a nice touch and the addition of task management apps is a great way to increase productivity. Unfortunately, the interface can get quite cluttered and it’s not always user-friendly. All in all, it’s a step in the right direction, but don’t be surprised if you’re not entirely happy with the outcome.
