Not Wow, Much Sad: The Doge Dog Is Probably Dying

In an increasingly-divided society, there is still one unifying factor that everyone can get behind: the Doge Dog. This internet meme gained fame in 2013, when a picture of a Shiba Inu – labeled “Doge” – was posted on the social media site Tumblr. Although the meme was intended to be a joke, it soon gained worldwide attention. People began introducing the Doge Dog into other memes, GIFs, and even merchandise. The Doge Dog became so popular that its face even made an appearance during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea.

Unfortunately, the Doge Dog may be nearing the end of its runway. According to recent veterinarians’ research, the Shiba Inu breed has been suffering from a severe genetic illness over the past few years. The illness, known as “protein losing nephropathy,” causes the body to lose too much protein through the urine. This can cause symptoms such as weight loss, dehydration, and in extreme cases, death. The illness typically affects dogs under two years old, and the effects can be life-threatening.

The loss of the Doge Dog would be a great loss for many people across the world. It’s become a symbol of joy in a time of strife and a reminder of the power of the internet in bringing people together. If the Doge Dog is indeed dying, we have to acknowledge that our society won’t be the same without it. We should take this opportunity to appreciate the positive things the Doge Dog represented, while also understanding the need to help save the breed from extinction.

There are several things that can be done to help keep the Doge Dog from dying. One step is to breed responsibly – breeders should focus on diversity in order to reduce the risk of genetic disorders. Additionally, people should educate themselves about the breed’s health conditions and be vigilant in seeking treatment when necessary. Finally, support rescues and shelters, which are often home to a variety of Shiba Inu.

The loss of the Doge Dog would be a great loss for everyone. We should look at this as an opportunity to come together and save the breed from extinction. As always, we should remember the joy and happiness that this meme has brought us over the years and use it to help us make sure that it can continue to bring joy to future generations.
