TMNT have always been an iconic part of video game culture. Now, their presence can extend to your very own gaming setup with the introduction of the pizza-scented Xbox controller.
In case the name didn’t give it away, this limited-edition controller is scented like everyone’s favorite Italian-American classic. Xbox teamed up with Loot Crate, a monthly subscription service that sends out geeky goodies, to create the special edition controller. Despite the fact that it is sure to be a hit with fans, the controller isn’t available for purchase anywhere.
The only way to acquire the pizza-scented Xbox controller is to sign up for a special Loot Crate subscription package, that includes a one-off bundle featuring exclusive gear for the upcoming TMNT game, ominously titled, Redemption.
Though the familiar smells of pepperoni and cheese might make gameplay a little more immersive, gamers must remember that it isn’t all about the aesthetics. The pizza-scented Xbox controller also boasts some impressive specs. It is outfitted with impulse triggers, double rumble motors and a 3.5mm stereo headset jack. It is also compatible with the Xbox Elite Wireless Adapter, allowing for quick and easy customization of controls.
The pizza-scented controller is just the latest in a long line of whimsically designed gamepads that aren’t sold in stores. Over the years, several gaming companies have produced special edition controllers. Sony released a limited-edition Gold DualShock 4 to coincide with the launch of the PS4 Pro. Nintendo also got in on the action by creating a controller printed with the artwork from the original Super Mario Bros.
Whether you’re a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the smell of pizza, the pizza-scented Xbox controller surely is an eye-catcher. Though you won’t find it in stores, hardcore fans can get their hands on the sought-after item by signing up for the Loot Crate subscription package. Unfortunately, it’s not clear exactly how long the offer will last; so if you plan on getting one, you better act fast.
