Best PSP games: top PlayStation Portable titles

The PSP, otherwise known as the PlayStation Portable, has long been celebrated as one of Sony’s all-time best gaming devices. With a wealth of amazing titles available for the PSP, it can be hard to figure out which games are worth a playthrough. To make it easy, we’ve ranked the 10 best PSP games of all time!

In tenth place, we have Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. For all of you Monster Hunter fans, this is the definitive edition. This game features over 500 hours of intense, action-packed gameplay. With its gripping storyline and challenging quests, this is one Monster Hunter installment you won’t want to miss.

Coming in at ninth place is God of War: Chains of Olympus. This PSP offering follows Kratos as he ventures to Olympus to battle the gods themselves. With great visuals, tight controls, and intense combat, this entry in the God of War franchise is a must-play for any fan of the series.

In eighth place, we have Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. As the first portable GTA game, Liberty City Stories showcases the franchise’s iconic open-world mechanics at their best. Throw in some great graphics and an awesome soundtrack and you’ve got one of the best PSP games of all time.

Taking seventh position is Valkyria Chronicles 2. Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a tactical role-playing game with an amazing story and stunning visuals. As you lead ‘Class G’ to freedom, be prepared to face off against all kinds of monsters and villains.

At sixth place, it’s Dissidia: Final Fantasy. This is your chance to battle alongside all of your favorite Final Fantasy characters in one epic showdown. Just be sure to pick a side as you fight for your beliefs and take down those who threaten universe balance.

In fifth place, there’s Lumines. Lumines is a unique puzzle game that has you lining up colored blocks while grooving to some (seriously funky) beats. Once you get hooked, you’ll find yourself playing late into the night.

Coming in fourth is Patapon. Patapon is a rhythm-based strategy game that has you commanding an army of tiny soldiers. Tapping along with the beat of your drums, you’ll march your soldiers through enemy territory and take on epic bosses.

At third place, we have Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. This game takes the classic Final Fantasy Tactics to a new level with slick visuals, new characters, a great story, and fresh gameplay. For every fan of strategy RPGs, this is a must-play.

In second place, we have LittleBigPlanet. LittleBigPlanet has you exploring imaginative worlds as Sackboy, a charming stuffed creature. You’ll jump, grab, and climb your way through the levels as you use your creativity to solve a variety of puzzles and challenges.

Through creative, colorful levels, hilarious characters, and addictive gameplay, LittleBigPlanet has earned its spot as one of the best games for the PSP. And that brings us to our first-place pick—Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Peace Walker immerses you in the intense world of the Metal Gear Solid franchise as you take control of Naked Snake on a mission to take down a mysterious organization. With great gameplay, a deep storyline, and enterprising co-op features, Peace Walker has earned its place at the top of our list as the best PSP game of all time.

Whether you want to jump into the world of Monster Hunter, explore the crime-filled streets of Liberty City, or join Snake on a mission for peace, you’ll find something great to play replaying in our list of best PSP games.
