Would-be Twitter rival T2 adds DMs — a feature others, including Threads, don’t yet have

Twitter may have defined much of the microblogging landscape over the last decade, but that hasn’t stopped companies from trying to develop the next big microblogging site. One of the most promising of these is T2, a would-be Twitter rival that’s now added a major new feature: direct messages.

T2 is still relatively new to the microblogging game, but the ability to send direct messages to other users is a key element of any social network. The new feature, which T2 is calling “DMs,” will allow users to privately communicate with one another instead of just relying on public tweets. This type of direct messaging is something that other Twitter competitors like Threads don’t yet offer, giving T2 a notable advantage.

One of the major draws of T2 is its emphasis on privacy and security. Unlike other social networks, T2 offers end-to-end encryption for direct messages. This means that messages are kept secure and can only be read by the intended recipient, making it much safer than sending messages on other social networks.

Another useful feature of T2 is its ability to cross-post messages from other networks. Unlike Twitter, which only allows users to post natively, T2 allows users to post from other social networks like Facebook or Instagram. This makes it easy to share content from multiple platforms without having to post to each one separately.

Ultimately, T2 looks like it could be a strong competitor to Twitter. The addition of direct messages and other features is sure to draw in more users — and as more people join, it could provide a real challenge to Twitter’s dominance in the microblogging space.
