‘Rhymer’ Combines

In recent years, the musical landscape has become saturated with a variety of genres and artists, but few have been as ambitious and unique as Rhymer.

Rhymer, the collaboration between Scottish folk artist Kathryn Joseph and prog-rockers Pinact, blurs the boundaries between traditional music and modern rock. By combining haunting Scottish ballads with elements of alien fantasy, Rhymer creates a truly ethereal soundscape.

Rhymer’s latest single, ‘Come Home’, is a perfect example of their genre-defying style. The track opens with an ambient guitar pluck, which gives way to a beautiful vocal performance from Joseph. Her anthemic delivery weaves throughout the track, while a tense yet tender rhythm section builds beneath her. As the track reaches its climax, a dreamy layer of audio effects materialises out of nowhere, imbuing the song with a strange otherworldly feel.

The music video adds a further layer of intrigue to Rhymer’s sound. It follows a mystical figure known as The Queen of the Elves, as she leads an army of mystical people through a strange dreamscape. The video is further enriched by the visuals of the Scottish landscape, as Joseph and Pinact perform beneath dramatic vistas of the highlands.

In combining traditional and modern, Rhymer create a truly captivating listening experience. Their sound is at once organic and atmospheric, blending elements of folk and rock music into one delightful package. By adding a healthy dose of alien fantasy, Rhymer have created something truly unique in the musical landscape.
