Twitch streamer Kai Cenat will be charged with inciting a riot after chaotic giveaway in Union Square

Over the weekend, Twitch streamer Kai Cenat put on a chaotic giveaway in Union Square that ended with him now being charged with inciting a riot.

Cenat, a popular streaming personality known for producing unique social events, attempted to host a free giveaway in Union Square on Saturday. The event featured a wide variety of prizes including game consoles, headphones, and even streetwear. To maximize participation, Cenat enlisted the help of his social media influencers to draw in a larger crowd.

Unfortunately, the event quickly devolved into chaos as attendees began to push and shove each other in order to get their hands on the prizes. According to onlookers, some of the prize bundles could only be retrieved at the cost of physical harm, and several individuals were reportedly injured in the melee.

The NYPD have been heavily involved in the situation, having monitored the event and detained Cenat on site. He now faces charges of inciting a riot, and multiple other charges related to disorderly conduct. Furthermore, several of his influencers have also been called in for questioning regarding their knowledge of the situation.

Ultimately, this incident serves as a reminder for streamers and influencers alike to exercise caution when organizing social events. Not only is it important to be aware of the scale of an event, but to also be mindful of local laws and regulations at all times.

While Cenat may have had good intentions in mind, his actions have unfortunately resulted in him now facing legal consequences. It remains to be seen how this case will play out in court, but no matter what the outcome is, it’s a situation that should be avoided in the future.
