Technology has come a long way in how it helps people stay connected and active. But in recent years, wearable fitness bands have taken a backseat to newer, more sophisticated devices that promise to provide a more comprehensive approach to fitness tracking. So, where have all the fitness bands gone?
It is easy to see why the fitness band convenience could appeal to many people. They provided a fairly simple and inexpensive way to track steps, distance, pace, heart rate, sleep, and other activities. Not to mention, they were easy to wear, comfortable and usually came equipped with a range of exciting features.
Unfortunately, not all fitness bands lived up to their expectations. Many suffered from battery issues, which made them much less accurate than other devices. Additionally, the fact that they run on a very basic operating system meant they were limited in what they could track.
However, one of the biggest reasons wearable fitness bands have taken a backseat to newer devices is because of the limited features. They did not offer the same level of sophistication as newer, more robust fitness trackers.
This means they are not as accurate or as comprehensive in their tracking capabilities. For instance, many of the newer fitness trackers are capable of measuring much more than just steps and heart rate. They can track a person’s caloric intake and provide detailed analysis of how they move and progress throughout their fitness journey.
So, where have all the fitness bands gone? That is a difficult question to answer. But it does seem that many consumers have moved towards more comprehensive fitness trackers, as they are a much superior option compared to the simple fitness bands of times past.
Overall, fitness bands were a great way for people to get into tracking their wellness, but they did have their limitations. As fitness tracking technology continues to develop, so does the fitness band technology. It remains to be seen how these devices will progress in the near future, but one thing is for sure: fitness tracking is here to stay.
