WhatsApp starts testing AI-generated stickers

WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging applications, is testing a new feature that will use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate custom stickers. The new feature, which began rolling out in certain countries, is currently being tested by the app’s users and is expected to be launched globally soon.

The AI-powered feature will allow users to create personalized stickers based on the images that they upload. To generate the stickers, the app will use machine learning algorithms to recognize patterns and objects within the images. This will enable it to generate expressive, cartoon-style stickers, which will feature the user’s own selfies or other images.

The AI-generated stickers will help add a more personal touch to user’s conversations, as they can express themselves through the custom designs. Moreover, the feature has the potential to drive up engagement on the app, as users are likely to be drawn towards the custom stickers.

It also won’t be surprising if other messaging apps follow WhatsApp’s lead and incorporate similar features in the near future. Facebook, which owns WhatsApp, has been making rapid progress in AI-powered products, which could eventually lead to the development of AI-generated stickers for the likes of Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

For now, the AI-generated sticker feature is still in the testing phase, but it is likely to be released in the near future. Once it launches, we can expect a surge in the use of custom stickers on the app, as users look to have some fun with the feature.
