Apple TV+’s Monsterverse Series Has a Title and a Hello From Godzilla

The streaming wars got a whole lot more interesting earlier this week when Apple TV+ unveiled the title of their upcoming series based on the “Monsterverse” franchise, with a special message from none other than Godzilla himself.

The show, titled Monsters, is set to debut exclusively on Apple TV+ with the promise of a “dramatic, epic-scale original drama series”. It will draw from the film series “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” and “Godzilla vs. Kong,” presenting viewers with a unique opportunity to explore the lore behind the Monsterverse world. As Apple TV+ explains, the series “will follow the cursed Monarch scientists, its new-found kaiju allies and human heroes as they dive into the mysteries of both nature and man, as they battle to save the world from either its extinction or total destruction.”

The premiere date for the series has yet to be revealed, although along with the announcement of the show’s title, Apple TV+ teased the arrival of an extended trailer directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The trailer, released this week, also features a special introduction from one of the most iconic kaiju of them all, Godzilla, voiced by none other than Brian Tyree Henry.

The Monsters series marks a major step forward for Apple TV+’s foothold in the streaming wars. With an inter-connected universe to play in and a passionate fanbase that’s been eagerly awaiting the series, Monsters looks to be an eye-catching addition to the service’s original content library. Plus, with a cast including screen names like Caden Jaycee, Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Aisha Tyler, and Rebecca Hall, Monsters has the potential to be one of the most memorable Monsterverse stories yet.

At this moment, Monsters remains one of the more anticipated series heading to Apple TV+. With its interesting premise, impressive cast, and the iconic presence of Godzilla himself, it’s no wonder the series has already generated a ton of buzz. We’re all eagerly awaiting news of a more solid premiere date — but in the meantime, at least we know the title.
