Meta’s done making new features for the Quest 1 — all updates will end next year

As virtual reality continues to rise in popularity and appeal, technology companies are racing to innovate. Among them is Meta, the American startup known for its groundbreaking Meta 2 Augmented Reality glasses. Recently, Meta announced that it will be discontinuing the development of new features for its flagship product, the Meta Quest 1, next year.

The Meta Quest 1 serves as a bridge between the world of virtual reality and augmented reality, offering users the ability to cross digital boundaries and enter immersive digital scenarios. It has been embraced by a number of industries, including education, gaming, and engineering.

Meta’s decision to draw a line on the development of new features is a strategic move to focus their energies on the development and delivery of new products more closely aligned with the future of tech. The fact that the Meta Quest 1 will no longer receive updates and improvements has been met with some disappointment, but that’s to be expected when the focus shifts away from products that have been in the market for years.

What makes the end of the Meta Quest 1 particularly notable is the fact that there is currently no successor to the device. That means Meta Quest 1 users who wish to experience the latest advances in augmented reality will have to look for a different solution, like the high-end headsets from competitors like Microsoft.

Meta states that their decision to no longer develop updates for the Meta Quest 1 was made with the customer in mind. Rather than allocating resources and time to continue improving the current product, they have decided to focus their efforts on the development of new, cutting-edge products that they believe will offer users even more immersive and interactive experiences.

The Meta Quest 1 was an important step in the evolution of augmented reality and other immersive technologies. However, with the emergence of new products and projects, the end of its development comes with a promise of more exciting virtual reality and augmented reality innovations on the horizon.
