For Fighting Game fans, Street Fighter 6 has been one of the most eagerly anticipated games since its announcement in 2021. While the hype was real, and the game was projected to be released at the beginning of this year, the launch date has been delayed.
The street Fighter franchise has had a long history of delays, and some fans assumed this one would face the same fate. However, this is not the case as Capcom has now opened up to fans regarding why Street Fighter 6’s launch was delayed.
Capcom Governor Haruhiro Tsujimoto shared during an interview with Famitsu that “Rather than aiming to release the game as soon as possible, we wished to share a game of higher quality”. This statement is in line with the previous Capcom statement which confirmed that the development team wants to focus on the game’s quality than the launch date.
This means that Street Fighter 6 is taking longer than initially planned due to the team’s commitment to graphic, story and other elements of the game. Tsujimoto emphasized that Capcom is not just eyeing for the launch date, but “want to ensure the game does not have problems when released, like the delay experienced by Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.”
Capcom wants fans to really enjoy the game and is sparing no expense to make sure that the game is as good as it can be. This is good news for fans who have been waiting since the game’s announcement two years ago.
Tsujimoto also hinted at a different mode of delivery than the traditional boxed game, leading some to speculate that Street Fighter 6 could also be released digitally. While not official, it is likely that fans will be able to enjoy the game soon enough.
In the end, it is clear that Capcom is taking the launch of Street Fighter 6 seriously and is investing time and resources to make sure it becomes the great game fans have been waiting for. We may have to wait a bit longer, but it looks like Street Fighter 6 could very well be worth the wait.
