Threads Gets a Couple More Twitter-Like Features

As social media continues to shape the way we communicate, Twitter remains at the forefront of newsworthy and innovative features. Now, the popular chat application Threads has announced the addition of two new features to their platform, bringing the app a ‘Twitter-like’ feel.

Threads has traditionally provided users with an intimate messaging platform, curating interactions from close friends and family members. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that Threads has revolutionized the private messaging space, allowing users to share photos with each other, set statuses, share ‘Stories,’ and now more.

The two new features have added a boost of Twitter-like functionality to the application. Firstly, users now have the ability to follow other users and view their posts in a dedicated ‘Follows’ tab. This allows the app to become a more public-facing platform, while still maintaining its intimate vibe. Users can keep up with their friends’ posts and engage with them in a more meaningful way.

The second new feature that has been added is a ‘Suggestions’ tab. This tab features posts from outside of the user’s own network, that may be of interest or relevance. This helps to curate content from sources other than those already known to the user, helping to create a wider, more diverse network.

Despite their Twitter-like features, Threads still retains its sense of privacy and intimacy that has gained it so much recognition over the years. This means that users can still find an element of privacy in the app, even with these new features.

On their recent announcement, the developers said: “Our ultimate goal is to make the app a more meaningful platform for communication with your close friends, family, and now more. We’re confident that these new features will help to make that happen.”

Despite being a relatively new player in the messaging app market, Threads has managed to build an influential platform in a short amount of time. With these new, Twitter-like features, Threads is sure to continue to go from strength to strength.
